Shamrock Rovers move to the top of the Airtricity League Premier Division following a 2-1 win over St Patrick's Athletic on Monday evening. Pat's took the lead through Derek Doyle just after the break but Rovers came back with two goals from Thomas Stewart. Pat's were denied a share of the points when Billy Dennehy deliberately handled the ball on the line. He was shown the red card. Ryan Guy stepped up to take the resultant penalty but Alan Mannus saved his spot kick to claim the three points for Rovers.
Paddy Madden scored twice as Bohemians beat UCD 2-0, Dundalk came from behind to beat local rivals Drogheda United 2-1 in the Louth derby,Sporting Fingal were held to a 1-1 draw by Sligo Rovers and Galway United drew 2-2 with Bray Wanderers. In the First Division Dinny Corcoran scored a hat-trick as Shelbourne twice came from behind to beat Athlone Town 6-3 at Tolka Park on Friday. Mark Farren scored twice in Derry's 2-1 win over Mervue United. And in Europe Dundalk drew 3-3 with CS Grevenmacher in the first leg of the first qualifying round of the Europa League.
