St Patrick's Athletic remain on top of the premier division after the summer break following their scoreless draw at Sligo Rovers and Bohemains move up to second place after their 3-0 win over Dundalk at Dalymount Park.

Bohemians took the lead five minutes after the break when Paddy Madden scored from Aaron Greene's cross.  Dundalk substitute Michael McGowan was dismissed just 60 seconds after replacing Ross Gaynor when he received a red card for an awful tackle on Raffaele Cretaro.  Ruaidhri Higgins stepped up to score from the resulting free-kick in the 81st minute, and Gareth McGlynn completed the scoring in the 87th minute.

Sporting Fingal took the lead against UCD in the fourth minute through Eamon Zayed but they ended up on the losing side.  UCD equalised in the 18th minute through Andrew Boyle and Evan McMillan scored the winner three minutes from time for a 2-1 win at the Morton Stadium.

Shamrock Rovers were held to a goalless draw by bottom of the table Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds and Stephen O'Donnell scored the only goal in Galway United's win over Drogheda United.

 

In the first division Monaghan United were 4-0 down on 65 minutes against Athlone Town but finished 4-4 with goals from Philip Hughes (2 penalties, the second - and the equaliser - deep in injury time), Alan Brennan and Darragh Hanaphy.

Derry City were held to a scoreless draw by Longford Town at the Brandywell and Waterford United recorded a 3-0 win over Mervue United with second half goals from Mike Elwood (own goal), Paul Murphy and Willie John Kiely.

Shane Tracy scored the winner for Limerick in their 2-1 sucess over Cork City Foras Co-op, Shelbourne were held 1-1 by Finn Harps, and Salthill Devon and Wexford Youths was scoreless.
